Grades 7 and 8 Theater Information

Dear 7th and 8th Grade Families,

I hope you are doing well! First, I would like to introduce myself to those I did not have the opportunity to meet during Back-to-School Night. My name is Mr. Quarles, and I am the new Choral Director and Theater Director at Colonial Middle School. I am incredibly excited to work with our students and to begin our theater program this year!

I also want to sincerely thank all of the parents and families who have reached out with questions, encouragement, and support. I truly appreciate your patience as we have worked through the details of this year's musical, including the various updates and changes to dates and times.

I am excited to officially announce that our 7th and 8th grade musical will be:

Alice in Wonderland: The Musical! 🐇🎩

We are looking forward to an exciting production and are currently preparing everything students will need to audition and participate!

Important Musical Dates

Friday, October 9 — Student Interest Meeting

During homeroom, there will be an interest meeting for all 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in auditioning for or participating in the musical.

At this meeting, students will have the opportunity to meet our Choreographer, Assistant Director, and Assistant Musical Director, who will be working alongside me throughout the production. Students will also receive important information about the audition process and materials.

Our musical website will also go live, where families will be able to find important updates, audition information, rehearsal schedules, materials, and other resources.

Monday, October 26 — Audition Video Submissions Due

Students will have from October 9 through October 26 to prepare and submit their audition videos.

Thursday, October 29 — Callback List Posted

Monday, November 2 — Callbacks

Tuesday, November 3 — Cast List Posted

Wednesday, November 4 — First Full Cast Rehearsal

Saturday, November 7 — First Saturday Rehearsal & Parent Informational Meeting

At our first Saturday rehearsal, we will also hold a parent informational meeting. More details regarding the time and location will be provided as we get closer to the date.

During this meeting, parents and students will receive a complete rehearsal schedule, important dates and deadlines, expectations, and additional information about the production.

We will also have an opportunity for parents and guardians to sign up to serve on various musical committees and volunteer in areas where we will need support. There are many ways families can contribute to the success of the production, and we will absolutely need your help!

So please don't book yourselves for the entire fall just yet; we're going to need you! 😊 More information about specific volunteer opportunities and committees will be shared at the parent meeting.

I am very excited about the opportunity to work with our students and create a memorable theater experience for them. Thank you again for your patience, encouragement, and support as we get everything up and running.
