Colonial Middle School basketball teams win Montgomery County Athletic Conference Championships
Colonial Middle School's 7th and 8th grade basketball teams have just added more trophies to the school's collection following championship wins this season.
Because both teams were top seeds, the Montgomery County Athletic Conference Championship games were played at Colonial Middle School. The 7th grade team went 11-1 for the season and beat Sandy Run Middle School in the championship game 46-40. This is the third consecutive championship for the team, which is coached by Kevin Herod.
The 8th grade team was undefeated this season and showed great resilience with a hard fought overtime win in the semifinals versus Cedarbook, which ended in a 54-47 score. Leading the way in the semifinal game was forward Justin Kriebel, who is the team's leading rebounder and finished the game with 15 points. The team finished off its championship run with neck-and-neck battle with Wissahickon, winning 52-44. Lead guard Adam Qawasmy, who kept the team in front all season, finished with 23 points in the championship game. The team is coached by Ronald Moore.
