Plymouth Whitemarsh High School baseball team takes the field for WIP sports personalities' latest duel
Plymouth Whitemarsh High School baseball players helped propel afternoon 94WIP radio show producer Jack Fritz to victory against WIP morning show host Joe DeCamara during a July 9th duel between the two on the high school baseball field.
The two radio personalities are pitted against one another in a series of athletic competitions, which have so far included golf and baseball. The one held at PW on July 9th saw Fritz, who is a former Bloomsburg University baseball player, pitch to DeCamara. DeCamara had several chances to get on base by attempting to hit off Fritz, but it was not his day. DeCamara either struck out or was forced out at first by PW’s fielders.
A large crowd of spectators showed up to watch the radio personality match-up, with many heckling them from the sidelines during a hot July day. The students on the field were joined by two high school baseball alums – Mike Miller, a 2022 graduate and current Bloomsburg University player who served as catcher for the event, and Brady McGrain, a 2024 graduate who presided over first base as an umpire, along with his father, who was behind the plate.
Other sports personalities made appearances at the event, including Ben Davis, a former catcher for several Major League Baseball teams known to many in the Philadelphia area because he is a commentator for Phillies baseball games, and Spike Eskin, also a WIP radio personality. The radio stunt came to Colonial’s athletic fields as a result of a baseball parent who has connections to Audacy, WIP’s parent company.
