Plymouth Whitemarsh High School students tour Telemundo 62

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School students who belong to the Hispanic Latinx Student Union went on a behind-the-scenes tour of Telemundo 62 Filadelfia studios at the end of April.

Students got an inside look at how the Spanish language affiliate, which is located in the Comcast Center in Philadelphia, produces news content. The group explored the production floor, where daily news stories come to life, and toured the control rooms used to create and edit broadcasts for both NBC10 and Telemundo 62.

Highlights of the day included meeting professional news anchors and traffic reporters, standing in the studio behind the news desks, and viewing the stations’ prestigious Emmy Awards. Telemundo producer Christine Abreu, mother of HSLU President Gian Villafane Abreu, made the visit possible and spoke with students about her profession.

She noted that being able to speak both Spanish and English has been a cornerstone of her professional success, while also emphasizing the importance of networking and pursuing internships.
