Making a Difference: Plymouth Elementary School

Plymouth Elementary School students raised over $7,500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by participated in the annual Color Run held on May 28.

Students' white t-shirts didn't stay that way for long as they ran laps and were doused with colored powder along the way. The children ran as many laps as they could in order to collect on the pledges that had been made by friends an family. Signs that had been made by the Spirit Team lined the route to give students an extra boost of encouragement. Parents, faculty, and staff also cheered the children on as they made their way around the blacktop.

Families who attended were invited to fill out yellow or white paper lanterns with the names of loved ones who survived or are battling blood cancer, and those who have passed on from the disease. Once the races for each grade level were over, the school celebrated by allowing top student fundraisers to dump buckets of slime on faculty and staff.

Plymouth has raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society every year since 2015 and has raised thousands of dollars over the last 11 years for the fight against cancer.
