Welcome to the 2025 summer recap. Today we are recapping the 2025 summer, (pretty obvious). I, Liam Otero, am going to be recapping this action packed summer filled with news, drama and just plain insanity. So what are we waiting for, let’s jump right into it!
Month 1: June
Welcome to the June Recap. Starting with something no one was surprised by, GTA 6 got delayed AGAIN. As well to that, THE SWITCH 2 CAME OUT!!!! My friend originally made an entire paragraph about it but I’ll save your attention spans and summarize it since I accidentally deleted it(sorry Dillon). The Switch 2 came out at a WHOPPING 500 DOLLARS, and everyone was mad about it being insanely expensive. Especially the new release, Mario Kart World, the first open world game of the franchise.
However, I will say, for 80 dollars, it's fine. It's just 4k Mario Kart with added racing effects. The whole switch is overrated in my opinion, but I like the magnetic controllers. Of course, I don’t actually have one, but whatever, I played it once at Dillon’s house, that’s enough for me to have an opinion. And now, we’re gonna start with movies. Starting off strong, the hit Dreamworks movie How to Train Your Dragon, received its own live action, and it received amazing reviews. People at first were skeptical because of the girl playing Astrid, but honestly, who cares? As well as that, Marvel released the announcement of Avengers DOOMSDAY and Avengers Secret Wars! And everyone was extremely “This is gonna be bad” about it. Until next month.
Builderman wanted to make Roblox a DATING PLATFORM, Mr. Beast released the most emotional video he has ever made, Lose 100 pounds, win 250,000 doubloons (Rest in Peace, Coach Tyler Wall). The Duffer Brothers released the title screen for Stranger Things 5, and everyone was hyped. Stranger Things 4 came out 3 years ago. We’ve waited a long time for this.
Roblox Grow a Garden became one of the most popular games on the platform, having over a million people active in a day. Scientists in Australia discovered a new species of spider because of course they did, it's Australia. And, they named it the Big boy spider. Predator Killer of Killers came out, and received mixed reviews. It had potential but was not that good. Disney also bought Hulu because they buy everything. The Minecraft Movie got an animated version that literally NO ONE asked for. 28 Years Later, a new sequel of 28 Days Later, came out and everyone was going crazy about it. The F1 movie came out and pretty much filled everyone's screen on Apple TV.
Cleveland Brown got added to Fortnite. Black Ops IS becoming Fortnite. Kashnasty finally met LeBron, thanks to Kai Cenat. You're a real one Kai. Speed won a race against the supposed fastest person in the world, Ashton Hall, and pretty much shattered his persona and it was pathetic watching Ashton whine like a baby. It was a 4-0 loss at the end but still crazy. Speed also beat Daniel Labelle and is now confirmed to be the fastest creator in the world. Daniel Labelle was super humble and (if I am going to be completely honest), for being 37, he’s crazy fast. OKC won the NBA Finals, and the Florida Panthers are back to back Stanley Cup champs, congrats to them. And Black Ops 7 was announced. And, in my taste of soccer, Chelsea won the FIFA World Cup against PSG, and PSG won the champions league final! Congrats! Yeah, but I’m rooting for Barcelona in LaLiga. Yeah, I know. June was crazy, and I probably have more blessings with the internet than my buddy.
Alright, onto July, an even more ridiculous month.
Month 2: July
Liam’s Recap
Welcome to July, people! To start off sadly, the lead singer of Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, passed on. He went out after going on tour one last time with his crew. Rest in Peace. Two people got caught cheating at a Coldplay concert in a Jumbotron, and the video went VIRAL! Not even joking, people made memes, found out who the two were, and the guy even made a bs apology and had the audacity to quote Coldplay at the end. Tsk tsk. Ryan Trahan and Haley raised 50,000,000 BUCKAROOS for St.Judes Children's Hospital, by traveling to 50 states in 50 days. These two carried the summer. And the highlights of the July recap, The OOF sound is back after 4 years, and TikTok may be releasing a new version of their app called M2 that’s for people in the US only. Heston James, the prankster from TikTok, was arrested! Castle Crashers got new DLC’S.
The Duffer Brothers released the long awaited trailer for Stranger Things 5, and also released when the episodes are coming. Season 5 of Stranger Things will be a three part series of 2 HOUR episodes that will come out on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Everyone says that they will be BAWLING. The Lofi-Girl finally graduated after 8 years. K-pop Demon Hunters came out and its music HIT THE TOP BAR, with Your Idol, sung by the villains, being number one on Spotify. I think the music is pretty good. Soda Pop is just so catchy.
And finally, the best part, ROBERT DOWNEY JR IS BACK IN THE MCU AS DR DOOM! He was revealed as the next Victor Von Doom at a comic con in San Diego. So hyped, the man is back! He's honestly carrying the MCU. That was a joke by the way. Robert Downey Jr is amazing but, RDJ put such an effect on MCU fans, that bringing him back is gonna be tough because we will forever remember him as Tony Stark. In my opinion, it should have been Cillian Murphy. He was born to play the role. Also, I don't know how Peter Parker’s gonna react when he sees a guy trying to kill him that looks just like his mentor. And that’s about it for July. Onto August! THE MOST DRAMA FILLED MONTH OF THE SUMMER.
Month 3: August
Liam’s Recap
Welcome to the month of back to school depression, and the final boss of the summer. So let’s get started. Starting off extremely strong, Roblox has officially started its downfall. Roblox had banned famous YouTuber Schlep, and sent him a cease and desist letter. For those who don’t know, Schlep had been working hard to keep Roblox safe for children, by getting predators arrested and locked up. But Roblox took him out. This. Caused. OUTRAGE WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.
Everyone was supporting Schlep, with #FreeSchlep in most TikTok’s. There were Roblox games that were getting modified to be protest movements with FreeSchlep on them. Roblox lost $12,000,000,000,000 in stocks because of the way Roblox was acting, creators like Steak and KreekCraft, have chosen to leave the star program and some are even choosing to quit playing the game altogether. And now, Louisiana is filing a lawsuit against Roblox. And LAWBYMIKE is teaming up with Schleps lawyers. Roblox is cooked. I miss the old days. Also in Roblox, there was an admin abuse war between Jandel's Grow A Garden, and Sammy’s Steal a Brainrot. If you're wondering why everyone has changed their avatar to a beanstalk, that’s Team Jandel. And bro, Sammy’s side was just downright embarrassing. Jandel absolutely dominated and disrespected Sammy. It was crazy.
Roblox also released an AI avatar checker that you can use to report an avatar and if the avatar is inappropriate , you're banned! The problem? People are abusing it. The AI is faulty and all you have to do is type in inappropriate outfit, or FEMALE BODY PARTS, and this causes the AI to think your avatar is inappropriate , and it will ban your account. Innocent avatars are getting banned left and right, and people are abusing the AI! But that’s enough Roblox. Onto real life drama. On a sad occurrence, Freddy Hill Farms is closing on September 28th, 2025. Next up, Taylor Swift got engaged and the post hit 36 million likes, and is close to beating Messi’s record of 74 million. Cool. Anyways, Cracker Barrel changed their logo, and everyone freaked out and they lost stock because people claimed it was taking the wokeness way too far. In their defense, taking the white man out of the logo was unnecessary. Thankfully, they are changing it back. Someone got diagnosed with the bubonic plague in 2025, which is wild, we are so cooked, JUST SAVE US(Sorry Dillon).
As well to that, we got 4 new Godzilla movies confirmed. Godzilla X Kong Supernova, which, come on guys, It's SpaceGodzilla right? Oh yeah, and remember the hit movie Godzilla Minus One? Well, it's Minus Two now! That’s right we’re getting a Godzilla Minus One sequel! And, after waiting 9 YEARS, we are finally getting a Shin Godzilla sequel. A guy on TikTok revealed he was making a WATERPROOF, FIREPROOF, BULLETPROOF, ANYTHING PROOF, 10 foot tall animatronic killing machine for fun! We're gonna get real life FNAF. He also just now revealed he wants it to fly. This is an avengers level threat, honestly. Football season started, and Ohio State beat Texas! Great!
Technically, this is September, but Jalen Carter got ejected for unsportsmanlike behavior. And finally, Team Water raised $4,000,000 to help kids in Africa have clean drinkable water for decades! Great job Mark and Jimmy! (Also, Hollow Knight Silksong released. Enough said. Benji can yap about this in a separate article)
