“Climbing” (a short poem inspired of NJHS)

Piano Kaewchaiyo

They say you must be smart

To understand what others lack

But did they ever wonder

How long it took to climb so far

You like to color on various things

Yet toss a baseball and spread your wings

You like to walk

Yet finding new friends means more talk

Now you’re stuck with no luck

Watching others race for grades

In a classroom full of rage

With time and strength, you climb

But you falter when there is too much

You cry and doubt

Grandma said tears don’t fix such

You try again and sprout

As you climb, you smile

Because you know this was worth a trial

Friends, family, community

Together, it’s worthwhile

Up that hill, up that valley

Up that mountain

No matter how hard the times become

You’re still here just like everyone

 Young to old

Weak to strong

Gentle to rough

We climb
