At last week's school board meeting, the superintendent had a sudden realization. As they were talking about the low grades in the district,
He suddenly blurted out, “remember the music program” words like “oh yeah” and “i forgot about them” rolled around the school board.
Immediately, the school board unanimously voted to give the largest sum of funding ever given to the music department, 1 dollar. This was raised to 1.25 when a kind school board member threw in a quarter they found in their pocket.
This will be split evenly among the schools. According to the CMS band director, “we will be buying a used bottle of valve oil from 2012” with the money we receive. The CMS orchestra plans to put the money toward fixing a singular string on a viola, and are now only 1,483,248,294 dollars away from achieving that.
The music department put together a video in which the band, orchestra and chorus
were supposed to play and sing, but did not because of broken instruments and lack of music.
They just thanked the school board instead.
