Mrs. Miller, a Spanish teacher whose classroom is in room 338, is a teacher who mixes fun and learning in a way that makes students excited to come into her classroom. I decided to interview her, and here are the questions and answers that were brought up during the interview.
Q. Why did you start teaching?
A. I started teaching because I love Spanish and I was a teaching assistant at Penn State for an education psychology class and that made me want to become a teacher.
Q. Why do you like Spanish as a language?
A. I learned Spanish in 7th grade and I just liked the language more than the other languages presented at my school.
Q. Why do you teach here at CMS?
A. My husband was in the navy for three years and I taught in Virginia Beach for three years. I wanted to come back to Philadelphia because that’s where I’m from and found a job at CMS because it was my first opportunity.
Q. What is your favorite part of your job?
A. I love my students because they make me laugh and help me have fun throughout the day, and I get really happy when I hear them use Spanish for fun.
Q. Do you see yourself teaching at CMS for the next 5-10 years?
A. No, because I’m getting close to retirement.
Q. What was your favorite year of teaching?
A. In the last two to three years my colleagues have come to CMS and I’ve really enjoyed knowing them and it’s made my time for the past few years more fun.
Q. Finally, if you could say one thing to all of your students, what would it be?
A. You should never be afraid to try your best and to have fun in class because it’s okay to do silly things and enjoy learning. Also, don’t worry about what other people are thinking.
I think that Mrs. Miller is one of the best teachers you could possibly have here at CMS, so I think that the fun that everyone has in her class can be boiled down to her answers to my questions. Good afternoon, or as Mrs. Miller would say, Buenas Tardes!
