I’m too much of a gamer. This is too exciting to talk about.

Shuntaro Furukawa, the president of the gaming giant Nintendo, announced on May 7th that there will be a successor to the very popular Nintendo Switch. Rumors on this topic have been circulating for a very long time, and it is nice to know that the company has officially announced it is coming.

Furukawa said a full announcement is coming at the end of their next fiscal year. (March 31st, 2025. Ugh.)

He additionally announced in this Twitter/X post that there will be a Nintendo Direct this June, covering what is to come for the Switch in the latter half of the year. However, no news about the “Switch 2” or whatever Nintendo’s next console will be announced at this direct.

The Switch was announced in March 2015, which means, by the time Nintendo’s newest console is announced, it will be the ten-year anniversary since the announcement of the original Switch.

This news is obviously something that has gotten gamers from all over the world talking. Excited to see what happens next!
