The flower had been growing… but hidden. Nestled between the mountains and craters on the moon, it had grown in secret. But now was its time to shine.
Aylin couldn’t wait! She was about to travel to the moon for the very first time. The year was 3000, and she was one of the first people to test out living on the moon. Her oxygen tank would provide her with at least a week on the moon, and they had enough food and water for a week. After that week, depending on how things went, the space exploration scientists would provide them with oxygen tanks that they could refill on the moon, and food storage that would last ages. Oxygen tanks were somewhat annoying, but life on the moon opened a whole new realm of possibilities. Aylin’s spaceship had just landed, and she and the other astronauts were about to step foot on the moon.
“I’m so excited!” Aylin told her fellow astronaut and friend (named Neoma.) Aylin set her foot down on the moon, and was amazed! She jumped, and was thrilled to jump much higher than normal because of less gravity. She started exploring the moon, but soon came across a sight that baffled her. “Hey Neoma,” she called. “Can you come over here for a second?” Neoma came over, and pointed to a purple flower on the moon’s surface.
“What is that?” Neoma asked.
“I have no idea,” answered Aylin. She touched the flower, and purple sparkles surrounded it. Aylina and Neoma both gasped. Gently, Aylin picked up the flower. Sparkles flew around her, and Aylin’s eyes widened. Her oxygen tank disappeared… but she was breathing! “I can breathe!” She cried. “On the moon, without an oxygen tank!”
“Let me try!” said Neoma. Aylin handed the flower to Neoma. “Wow,” Neome breathed as her oxygen tank also disappeared. They shared the flower with everyone on the moon, and during their week on the moon they also noticed that the flower produced a sort of substance like honey that could be eaten.
After the week, they told scientists about Aylin’s new discovery. The scientists were amazed, as the flower enabled anyone to live on the moon. The scientists took some DNA from the flower, and they were able to plant it on Earth. Many people moved to live on the moon, and entire civilizations were made. Aylin was one of the people who lived on the moon, of course, and she was the one who kept the original flower.
Some say that if that flower exists, couldn’t there be more? Different flowers with different magical properties hiding somewhere on the moon, or even further out in space? No one knows, but there could be hundreds of magical flowers, just waiting to be discovered…
