Disney movies have always been popular and loved by many, but for some reason, Disney’s popularity is dropping. So what is making Disney’s movies so bad that they are losing fans or just not gaining the attention?

There is the occasional bad movie that Disney sometimes produces that gets a lot of hateful controversy. Then they realize their mistakes and work to improve from there. Lately it just seems like they want quantity over quality, and that isn’t doing anything to improve their ratings and viewers.
The popularity of Disney is in fact going down. They had their first score of fair which is close to being a poor score. The industry’s overall rating dropped by 1% from 2024 to 2025 and the rating for Disney+ dropped by 3%.
The fall happened around the 2010s and became more visible in the 2020s. At this time Netflix and other streaming services were growing. Disney+ was not growing as steadily as they needed for them to be able to beat the other services or at least challenge them.
Disney needs more male viewers ages 13-28 and younger children. Disney is not connecting to children and the way they are now processing information. And the male viewers are a hard group to get to. Disney really needs to produce some high-quality content movies so that they can acquire more of this audience.
According to the Axios Harris Poll, Disney’s scores have gone down. They have a 69.6 total score and are down by 9 points!
Overall, Disney can make better content by taking their time to make the movies, instead of just spitting them out at rapid fire. They need more quality over quantity. They should try out new ideas that are different from the movies that they usually create. Also make new series instead of just putting 5 sequels on a movie that did really well. People want to see new, fun ideas that include different characters that act differently than the movies that they saw before. They want to see new plots and inclusive ideas.
