Why, I’m not insane
by Sophia Joseph (8th)
No, I’m not insane
Why do you say that?
This is just the way I‘ve learned to play the game
I’m not stupid, I know how to swing the bat
How can you say that I am the one who is crazy
When we all have different ways of being creative
How can you say I am mad
When troubled is really all that I am
So what, is it because I thrill?
And scream so loud I shatter glass?
Because my laugh is loud and shrill?
Are you scared of the monsters I amass?
No, I simply can’t be insane
Truly I really have nothing to gain
So you decide who is really to blame
While I stand out, in the pouring rain
Don’t ask again
Because all I will say
Is “why, of course
I’m not insane
