To all the Xbox and PlayStation fans—this is not a joke. This is 100% real. You’ve just been wrecked. Now, you might be saying, “But wait, where’s your evidence, and how are you judging this?” Good question. I’ll be evaluating based on hardware, software, portability, and overall gaming experience. As for the evidence—here it is.

Hardware

Let’s start with hardware. This is where Nintendo falls behind. The Switch is a lower-powered console, running at 30 FPS with just 32GB of storage. Compare that to the PS5’s 120 FPS and 825GB of storage, and it’s clear that the Switch is significantly slower and less powerful. So how can I argue that the Switch is better? Simple—the hardware is designed for a different purpose. It’s built for portability.

Portability

The Switch is like a phone compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series X. While those consoles need to be hooked up to a screen, the Switch has the option to be connected to one. But it doesn’t need an external screen because—the screen is built right in! That’s the entire gimmick of the Switch. It’s portable, has detachable controllers, and if you don’t like those, you can use a standard Pro Controller.

Game Catalog

Now, let’s talk about Nintendo’s biggest flex—its game catalog. If you don’t think this is one of the most stacked game libraries ever, you need help. We have superstar titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild—which won Game of the Year in 2017 against PUBG, Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Super Mario Odyssey.

But there’s more. Nintendo Switch Sports revives the legendary Wii Sports. Then there’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Splatoon 3, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Metroid Dread, Pikmin 4, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Maker 2, Mario Party Superstars, Mario Wonder, Luigi’s Mansion, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, and the Xenoblade Chronicles series. (Takes a deep breath.) Moving on.

Overall Gaming Experience

So, how is the overall gaming experience? Simply put—very good. And if that’s still not enough to convince you, consider this: The Switch 2 is being announced on April 2nd and will release later this year. What’s so special about it? Nothing major—it follows the same concept as the original Switch. BUT—it will have way more power and a brand-new Mario Kart game, featuring 24 racers instead of 12.

So there you have it—my highly detailed reasoning for why the Nintendo Switch is truly the best console. Case closed.
